Biography

Raised in Marietta, Georgia, Ethan Strickland is a percussionist, performer, and educator who performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician. He is passionate about community outreach, contributing to the diversification in the field of music, and supporting all people involved in the arts.

He has participated in festivals such as the Bang on a Can Summer Festival, the Cortona Sessions for New Music, and the Sandbox Percussion Seminar, allowing him to immerse himself in further learning opportunities. Ethan has performed with artists such as the Arx Duo, composer and pianist Thomas Kotcheff, and Jason Treuting of Sō Percussion. 

Receiving his Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance at Reinhardt University, he was the 2019 Reinhardt University Concerto Competition winner as well as the recipient of the Sal Gentile Jazz Scholarship. Serving as a graduate teaching assistant, Ethan earned his Masters in Music Performance at the University of Kansas. He has worked with several high school marching bands and percussion ensembles in Georgia and Kansas. 

Ethan’s previous teachers include Dr. Olivia Kieffer, Dr. Nathaniel Lee, and Dr. Sam Um. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at Michigan State University as a graduate assistant studying with Professor Gwendolyn Dease.
